Family Support for Women's Families
Serenity Peaks Family Recovery Program
As the addicted family member pursues her daily goals of intoxication, doing whatever it takes to get her next fix, she invariably walks over the people who care about them most. Families often struggle to pick up the pieces left in the aftermath of addiction and we are here to help strengthen family boundaries.
Addiction affects the entire family system and Serenity Peaks’ family program exists to mend family systems that have been wounded by their loved one’s substance use disorder. Families are invited on a monthly basis to participate in one-on-one family therapy with their loved one’s primary therapist. Family members are also updated on their loved one’s progress in treatment on a weekly basis. Together, both the monthly therapy sessions and weekly updates supplant family member vulnerabilities with significant boundaries and education that can empower the entire family system.
As the client engages with their treatment team, their family will engage directly with our Case Manager, including their primary therapist, on a weekly basis. Throughout these discussions family members will be given the necessary tools to sustain their recovery. It is our philosophy that the family's involvement is crucial in every patient’s recovery.
Three family members are also invited within their loved ones treatment episode to participate in our family weekend program. Topics discussed within this two day event include:
- Understanding addiction
- Methods of recovery
- Taking care of oneself
- Family issues and patterns
- Healthy boundaries, accountability and structure
This portion of the program is generally covered by most insurers. The cost is also inclusive of our cash rates. Every client’s family participation is guaranteed within a 90 day treatment episode.
The requirements for participation are as follows:
- Families must attend the entire weekend. No exceptions.
- Participants will go out to dinner on Friday night prior to the weekend activities as a group to get to know one another
- Family members must be at least 16 years or older
- Three family members per patient are invited (4 total members per family)
- Lunch will be provided on Saturday and Sunday.
Serenity Peaks is committed to the health and healing of the entire family in a safe, communicative environment. These guided sessions will open family discussions and allow each family member to address issues that have been pushed aside over the years. It is our goal to ensure that the family unit is heard and is able to experience growth alongside their loved ones throughout the duration of our program.
